Hope For Paws learned of a young little puppy living in the Los Angeles River. For several weeks, plenty of people tried to help. But the terrified dog always ran under the fence and disappeared into the river whenever anyone tried to approach. Read on for the Puppy Living In The Los Angeles River: Found Her Home.
Eldad Hagar, the rescue team’s founder, asked his friend and colleague Loreta Frankonyte to join in and help complete the mission. Once the rescuers arrived at the L.A. River, they quickly enclosed the entire area using baby gates and soccer nets. Next, they made sure the puppy won’t be able to escape.
Loreta and Eldad, together with two other volunteers, searched the surrounding area for a long time. Then, Eldad suddenly noticed a fast movement from the corner of his eye. He checked and confirmed it was the dog.
Rescuers Success.
When the puppy realized the rescuers were after her, she started to run for it. As expected, she ran toward the fence and attempted to pass underneath. With the nets in place, the puppy tangled and failed to escape.
Eldad got closer and helped the puppy calm down. Moments later, Loreta placed the Lucky Leash around her. But just as the rescuers untangled the net, the terrified puppy quickly went under the fence and tried to break free.
Loreta had a tight grip on the leash.
Fortunately, Loreta had a tight grip on the leash. She was able to pull the puppy back to safety, carried her in her arms, and loaded her into the car. On their way home, Loreta and Eldad agreed to name the dog Spirit.
Spirit had a spa day courtesy of Loreta. She was still shy at first, but she started to come out of her shell a few days later. She was grateful, and she thanked Loreta for helping save her life.
A few weeks after her rescue, Spirit continued to her loving foster home. She spent some time with them until Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary found her a fantastic home. After a rough start, Spirit finally found her happy ending.
