Lamb Chop spent six awful years in a puppy mill where she was sorely neglected. As a result, she’s a Puppy Mill Survivor. Thankfully, Lamb Chop was rescued, found her forever home, and even won this year’s World’s Cutest Dog title.

Love for Lamb Chop

Christin thinks of herself as a cat person and wasn’t planning to take in a dog when she visited a local animal shelter in Wisconsin. Her cat, Steven, had passed away, and she was exploring the idea of giving another rescue animal a chance to experience love. But while Christin was at the shelter, she met a rescue dog named Lamb Chop and instantly fell in love.

Lamb Chop is a Maltese that was rescued from a puppy mill. Lamb Chop’s sole purpose of existence was to bear one litter of puppies after another for six years. Thankfully, Lamb Chop was rescued from her desolate condition and was placed under the care of Washington County Humane Shelter.

Although Christin wanted to take Lamb Chop home right away, the shelter told her to wait a little longer. Lamb Chop’s teeth were all rotten, so the doctors removed them. She also needed to undergo surgeries to remove multiple tumors and treat cauliflower ear.

Lamb Chop’s life in the puppy mill also left many physical and psychological scars. The dog was scared of people. She didn’t even trust other dogs. Thankfully, Christin showered Lamb Chop with so much love and attention that she learned to overcome her anxiety issues.

Lamb Chop’s advocacy

Lamb Chop is like an entirely new dog nowadays. She’s happier and more confident. Lamb Chop even joined this year’s World’s Cutest Rescue Dog Contest and bested over 10,000 rescue contenders. Lamb Chop’s prizes included a whole year’s supply of dog food, a $1,000 donation to her chosen animal rescue, and an appearance for a morning TV show.

Apart from these fantastic prizes, Lamb Chop uses her title to campaign the shutdown of puppy mills. Lamb Chop and Christin, together with the organization called Bailing Out Benji, aim to expose the terrible conditions in puppy mills and sway the public to adopt rescue animals instead.

Lamb Chop is a resilient and courageous dog who chooses to see the good things in life despite her horrible past. She may be tiny, but she’s a massive inspiration to us all.
