Dog owners welcome the development of this innovation because it is hard to guess dogs’ feelings. The innovation is known as the Petpuls dog collar, and the software can recognize five different emotions coming from the dog’s body.
Moon Sae-mi is a fur parent to a six-year-old Border Collie. According to Moon, her dog became a part of this innovation as she was one of the dogs tested. The startup company recorded the barks of Moon’s dog. But aside from Moon’s dog, other dogs underwent the same testing. The Korean company compiled at least 10,000 dog barks to ascertain the veracity of their software.
The development of the software started in 2017. The dog collar was completed in the last quarter of 2020. Based on the company’s press release, the software’s accuracy is over 90%, which is enough for dog owners to know whether their dogs are happy.
Get to know your dog better.
For Moon, this invention would help her understand the emotions of her Border Collie better. Moon said that even though the dog has been with her for five years, she still does not know the dog well. Moon hopes she will be closer to her dog through the Korean startup’s software.
But aside from emotions, the software could likewise monitor the dog’s health. This is a win-win for Moon because she is no stranger to the fact that her dog is already nearing an advanced age. Since Moon volunteered her dog during the experimentation phase, she received a free variant from the company.
